Last night, I went and checked out the latest money maker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Named ‘Ant Man and the Wasp’
What’s kind of funny about the Ant Man movies is that Ant Man just kinda feels like he is there. He doesn’t REALLY have any kind of super powers (like Batman or Iron Man), and he wasn’t even in the most recent Avengers movie. However, I love the fact that he is included with them.
My quick review?
It was fun, not thrilling, but fun.
In a world chock full of Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, etc…Ant Man feels like he is the ‘just there’ character…but that’s why I like him, and this movie enforces that statement a little more. This time around we see more of the Wasp character, which is seemingly WAY more super than Ant Man is. We see Wasp just WOOPING some ass, jumping from car to car, and Ant Man? Just kind of riding an ant, being the comedy relief, and growing into a giant.
I don’t really remember any Ant Man specific action scenes, but I sure remember Wasp action scenes. Maybe they should have called this movie ‘Wasp and the Ant Man.’
Paul Rudd is good as always, being a light character that you can’t take seriously at all…but that’s what I like about him. Wasp actress Evageline Lilly was a strong character, and you can’t go wrong with Michael Dougles and flushed out character Janet Van Dyne played by Michelle Pfeiffer.
It was a fun movie, but it didn’t have that BIG blockbuster feel to it that I have learned to kind of expect with these films. Like Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, this one just felt like the second one, but it was a fun second one.
