Footprints in the Snow Lead Waterloo Police to Gun Thief

A Waterloo man’s been arrested, after police caught him with a stolen handgun.

Waterloo officers answered a call about a vehicle burglary Monday night in the 900 block of Wisner Road, in which a gun had been stolen .

When they got there, they unleashed a K-9 officer and followed some footprints in the snow to the 1800 block of Baltimore Street, where 24-year old Nick Summerhays was sitting in a vehicle parked in the driveway.  They also confiscated the stolen gun.

Summerhays was charged with trafficking stolen weapons and carrying weapons.  His bond at the Black Hawk County Jail is $20,000.
