That legendary album I ended up getting a speeding ticket to is 14 years old today.
14 years ago, the album that shot Avenged Sevenfold into super stardom ‘City of Evil’ was released into stores. Yea, I actually had to go to the store to buy the CD…mind blowing right?
I have told the story many times of how I have gotten pulled over thanks to the song ‘Bat Country’ and got myself a fine ass speeding ticket. Just in case you haven’t heard it though…my ex-girlfriend and I were bought 2 things that day. God of War on Playstation 2 and ‘City of Evil.’ We drove seperatly, but we both wanted to play God of War first…so? We RACED our vehicles to her house! However, I was was the one that got caught, going 55mph in a 35mph, all to the soundtrack of ‘Bat Country’
Since then I have met Avenged Sevenfold a couple of times, and I flat out told them I got a speeding ticket to the song and said that they may be responsible for paying the speeding ticket…they laughed….I was serious.
To this day, they still haven’t paid it.
Regardless of my financial woe, the album is fantastic…Beast and the Harlot, Bat Country, Seize the Day, Trashed and Scattered…tons of songs that just kicked ass and kept me driving….fast apparently.
