A Quick Review of ‘Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw’

Last night, went and checked out the latest in the long running Fast and Furious series of movies.

I’ve never been a HUGE fan of the Fast and Furious movies, but I sure do love a good action movie. It’s crazy to think that Fast and Furious movie ‘Furious 7’ is actually $8 on the All Time Worldwide Box Office pulls…right below Marvel’s Avengers! That just goes to show that people love these movies, love the characters, and really love action packed fast driving cars.

This is a spin off of the popular series, focusing on Luke Hobbs played by Dwayne Johnson and Deckard Shaw played by Jason Statham. You put these 2 on screen together and give them a little bit of a rivalry, and boom….you have action packed bliss.

My quick review Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw?

A ridiculous thrill ride full of action and laughs

I mean what would you expect…the moment they announced the cast of this film, you probably heard an explosion somewhere in the distance. One thing to remember, this IS a spin off and they are VERY light on referring to the previous films. Hell, there were plenty of times when they would make a reference to something in the past, and I had no idea what the hell they were talking about, but I was so engulfed in the action and the humor, I could care less.

The movie is pure eye candy..if you like Dwayne and Statham? You get what you paid for, and it’s cool as hell to see a classic action film back on the screen. Yes there are Avengers movies and all that, but they focus SO DAMN much on the story! Hobbs & Shaw was light on the story, heavy on the action, but kept you in the movie enough to not ignore it….I’d call this movie a ‘flick.’

Kind of an underlying theme to it is the focus on family and forgiveness. Both Hobbs and Shaw both have a family issue. There was actually a part where Hobbs ends up calling up to his family for help to ‘save the world,’ and at first they resent to him leaving the family, but then Mama comes up and puts an end to fighting…it was endearing to watch and it was a nice touch.

If you’re looking for a good action flick, this is perfect for you. No seriously, if you want light on story, heavy action, shirtless The Rock, kick ass Idris Elba, and Statham voice….that’s all ya need.
