Ever get in a cranky mood for no reason, and can’t snap out of it? That’s what was going on with me Sunday. I was hanging out with my man, James. We were driving around, and I was in a funky mood for no reason. It was so bad that I thought I might snap at a rando for no reason if they got in my way. Totally NOT me!! I warned James about my mood, and he decided to take me to Old MacDonald’s Farm in Bever Park. He told me that I could pet goats and other animals for free there.
I’ve only lived in Cedar Rapids/Eastern Iowa for 5 weeks, so I had no idea that this magical place existed, AND it is FREE! I’ve been talking to my coworkers, and most of them didn’t know about this place, either, so I wanted to mention it in case you’re also unaware. Old MacDonald’s Farm is located in Bever Park in Cedar Rapids. Their free petting farm is open from May 1st to October 9th. You can actually go INSIDE the pens and pet goats, sheep, bunnies, cows, birds and pigs! Most petting zoos only allow you to pet them through the fence!
Thanks to James for taking me here, because my mood instantly lifted. How can you be cranky while petting goats? I’m telling ya, if you can’t shake a funk, hit up this joint. They even have a duck sanctuary.
Besides the petting farm, the park itself is beautiful. Although you’re in the middle of Cedar Rapids, it feels like you’re off somewhere camping. There are pavilions that can be rented for gatherings with grills and fun slides for the kids, like me 😉
This place kicks major ass. Check ‘er out!! Much love to ya.
