A man has been arrested after police say he fired a handgun and damaged a car in a Waterloo neighborhood yesterday(Thurs) afternoon.
Waterloo police arrested 69-year old Gregg Petersen for reckless use of a firearm, carrying weapons, intimidation with a weapon and public intoxication.
Police say Petersen used a walker to cross the alley from his home to the 1,000 block of Linn St., where he fired off two shots from a pistol.
Both bullets hit a car that was parked on Linn Street, and investigators say there were people about 30 feet from the gunfire. Court records indicated he said something to the people about having been robbed earlier in the day.
When officers arrived, they say they found Petersen back at his home on his porch. He had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol, and the pistol was in a coffee can nearby.
