Woman plays professional football...gets leveled at goal line.

Tuesday, Feb, 18 2014

Football history was quietly made over the weekend in Texas during an Indoor Football League game between the Texas Revolution and the North Texas Crunch.

36-year-old Jennifer Welter became the first woman to play a non-kicking position in a pro football league.
At running back, she got her first carry midway through the third quarter when she took a handoff from two yards out of the end zone. Unfortunately for the 5-foot-2, 130-pound Welter, she was met by a 6-4, 245-pound defensive lineman for a one-yard loss.

Apparently, she got right up and told the lineman, “Is that all you got?"

Welter got two more carries in goal line situations, but wasn't able to score either time.

She said he didn’t want to show that women can play with men. Instead, she wanted to show that women are just as passionate about football and deserve a chance to show their talents.

Watch her get leveled at the goal line:

Words in music trends

Tuesday, Feb, 18 2014

What if you could see how often a certain word or phrase was used in the most popular songs of the past decades? Some guy has come up with a graph showing how often certain words have been used for each of the most popular songs since 1960.

Results? Hit songs say “I love you” less than they did back in the ’60s and ’70s.--

From 1960-1980, there were only FOUR smash hit songs that featured the word “sex.” In the 1980s, the word SEX exploded onto the charts.

The word “Baby” has always been big for hit songs, but has declined in recent years….the same can be said for the word “love.”

Before 1975 --- there was ONE hit song that had the word “weed” in it. Beginning in the 1990s, Weed started tokin’ up on the charts.

(The horizontal axis is the year of the song and the y-axis is the song's popularity according to Billboard Year-End Hot 100 singles. Each cell represents a song. The more red a song is, the more often that particular word appears appears in the song. For example, if a song has 5 "love" words and a total of 100 words in the entire song, that song is assigned 5% and a particular shade of red. The higher the %, the darker the shade of red.)

800 pound snowball crashes into dorm

Monday, Feb, 17 2014

An 800 pound snowball caused thousands of dollars of damage to a dorm at Reeds College in Oregon after two students tried to roll it down a sidewalk.

The two were encouraged by several students to build the snowball as big as they could.

However, they lost control of the snowball and it crashed into a bedroom dorm wall. The students reported the incident and will not be disciplined.

The school said it will cost about $2,000 to $3,000 to fix the wall.
