ROCK REPORT - January 10, 2014

Friday, Jan, 10 2014

Shinedown entered the studio this week to begin working on their fifth studio album.
The band hasn't released many details on the album but drummer Barry Kerch said the band has written over 30 songs. The band's last album "Amaryllis" came out in 2012. They were also working on an acoustic cover's album but Bon Jovi wouldn't give Shinedown permission to record, "Wanted Dead Or Alive,” so it’s been put on hold. The album was going to feature songs by The Clash, Metallica and Pearl Jam.

Motley Crue is having an event called, "RIP: All Bad Things Must Come To An End" on January 28th in Los Angeles. The band is expected to announce some details for their upcoming farewell tour expected to begin in May. Lead singer Vince Neil said the retirement is for real and they won't have multiple farewell tours like other bands.

ROCK REPORT! Thursday 1/9/14

Thursday, Jan, 9 2014

Not planning to watch the 56th Annual Grammy Awards? You may want to reconsider, because Metallica will be performing at the show! In typical Grammy fashion, Metallica won’t be simply playing a song straight-up. Instead the thrash band will collaborate with Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang.
It’s been a long time since Metallica graced the Grammy Awards stage….try 1992, when they played ‘Enter Sandman’ live at the Grammys.
Also, the band’s “Through The Never” soundtrack has been nominated for a Grammy for Best Recording Package.
The 2014 Grammys will be held on Sunday, Jan. 26 and will air live on CBS.

Converse has launched a new line of shoes ---- the 2014 Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Black Sabbath sneaker collection featuring five new styles inspired by Black Sabbath.
The collaboration features the album artwork of four of Black Sabbath's records, including "Black Sabbath", "Paranoid", "Never Say Die!" and "Vol. 4".
The designs also feature special stitched Black Sabbath logos and graphic lining. This is the band's second collaboration with Converse.
The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Black Sabbath collection will be available at select stores and Converse.com for around $70.

35 letter last name

Wednesday, Jan, 8 2014

A woman in Hawaii has a last name that is 35 letters long.

She was on "Inside Edition" last night, and they got her to say the name and spell it for them.

She actually had to petition Hawaii's state government to get a special driver's license made, because the regular ones couldn't fit a name that long.

At first, the government actually told her that she should just change her name to make it easier on herself and everyone else.
