Which cities in the US have the worst weather and which have the best?

The one city that outranks them all with the most pleasant days out of the year is Los Angeles. The most unpleasant city is McAllister - found in Montana. McAllister only has 14 pleasant days a year while LA has 183.

Some guy named Kelly Norton compiled data from the last 23-years of National Oceanic Atmospheric Association records and an interactive map  allows viewers to type in their own zip-code to check how pleasant their neighborhood actually is.

Mr. Norton defines “pleasant” as a place where the mean temperature is between 55* and 75&*. The maximum daily temperature doesn't go above 85* or dip below 45*. He also considered precipitation. Days with greater than a hundredth of an inch of precipitation or greater than a 10th of an inche of snow were not viewed as pleasant.

According to his map, Waterloo has 66 days a year that are “pleasant.” (the most are in June and August)
Cedar Rapids has 62. (the most are in May, June, August, September)

Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett plans on writing a second book as a follow-up to his 2012 book, “Too Much Horror Business-The Kirk Hammett Collection.” In his upcoming book, he plans on focusing on pop culture from the 1960’s and 1970’s.

It will feature a lot of hot rods, surfing, monster and horror culture. It will also include toy collecting, artwork and posters. Hammett says he'll start working on the book when the band is about two-thirds finished with their next album and looks to release it at the end of 2015 or beginning of 2016.

His first book was 228 pages of his love for the horror genre.

The Glyph

Monday, Feb, 10 2014

A new headset will beam movies, video games or even video calls directly into your eyes.

Users would play the video content on their mobile or entertainment device but watch it on the Glyph instead of their device's screen. The Glyph has a battery life of about three hours.

The technology that powers the Glyph centers around a set of 2 million microscopic mirrors -- 1 million per eye -- that reflect visuals, including 3-D, into your eyes.

But, wait! Won't this be worse than sitting too close to the TV? The maker says that eye fatigue comes from staring at the artificial, pixelated light from our TV and computer screens. Remove the screen, remove the problem.

Is it all hype? Doesn’t sound like it --- At last months International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Glyph was one of 40 products chosen for the Editor's Choice Award.

The headset is expected to be released later this year and will cost $499.

Semi-naked statue on an all-girls school campus?

Friday, Feb, 7 2014

An artist put up an ultra-realistic statue of a guy sleepwalking in tighty whities on the campus of an all-girls school.  And not everyone's happy about it.

The statue, which is part of an exhibit at the school’s museum, was placed in public view in order to raise interest. --- I guess it’s worked.
