During an 800m race last week at the Irish University Indoor Championships, a runner, who was in the lead for the final lap, was interfered by a pole vault warmup bar that flew on the track.
In the video a pole vaulter hit the flexible bar, which snapped off and flew toward the track. Part of the broken bar hit the runner’s neck and wrapped around it. He then tried to take it off while running, but it ended up tangled in his legs. So he has to run the final 50-100 meters or so with it stuck on his feet and the way he has to run makes it look like he’s crapping his pants and desperately trying to make it to the nearest bathroom.
This guy ended up finishing 8th, but he was automatically placed into the final because of the interference.
