A Waterloo man was stabbed early this(Thur) morning and his girlfriend has been charged with doing it.

Police were called just after 1:45 am to an apartment building in the 1500 block of West Ridgeway Avenue. There they found Tristin Couch, 24, with a steak-knife wound in his chest. Waterloo Fire-Rescue took him to Covenant Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Authorities arrested Shaumara Taylor, 24, on charges of willful injury causing bodily injury and aggravated domestic assault.

Taylor told police that Couch had assaulted her during an argument…she told him to leave, he refused and tried to hit her…and that’s when she stabbed him. She then took her 3-year old daughter and left.

This is the third stabbing reported to Waterloo police this week.
