Effective today(Thur), there are some traffic changes on University Avenue in Cedar Falls.
City officials say the intersection at Black Hawk Village will be closed to the south. Those driving to the Black Hawk Village area businesses from University should use the Holiday Road intersection.
In addition, at least one lane of traffic in each direction on University will be open between Highway-58 and Melrose Drive. East of Melrose, traffic will switch to the north side of the roadway, so the eastbound lanes between Melrose and the east project limits can be built.
Traffic will continue to be shifted to the north side of University between Melrose and Rownd Street, and between Cedar Heights Drive and Midway Drive. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained in those areas.
Access to Hillcrest Drive off University Avenue will be closed. A portion of the frontage road between Cedar Heights Drive and Midway Drive will be closed, so crews can build new frontage road pavement and utilities.
