I Miss Going to Rock on the Range
0 0

For the longest time, I used to attend this biggest rock festival in the country, Rock on the Range.

Since moving to Iowa, it has become quite the stretch to make the 10 hour drive to Columbus, OH. Therefore, Rock on the Range is now on the bottom of my list of concerts to attend.

But at one time, it wasn't as big as it is today. At one point, it was just a single day event at the Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, OH (Now MAPFRE Stadium). That first day sold out entirely and the rest is history.

Rock on the Range started in 2007 with the headliners ZZ Top, Evanescence, and Velvet Revolver. However, I didn't start going until 2009 where my girlfriend (now wife) was determined to see Korn for the first time in here life. Thus, we bought the tickets and took the ride for my first ever true rock festival. From that point forward, I was pretty addicted to rock festivals.

From that point forward, I attended 6 Rock on the Ranges and each one of them were a blast. I even worked a couple of them to for the radio station I worked for at the time.

Since then I have moved on from ROTR and have explored many of the amazing festivals on the other side of Michigan like Northern Invasion, and hoping to check Rock Fest and Chicago Open Air.

I guess the point of this post is, go to a rock festival...you won't regret it.

Hey, this is Ned. Born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI...yes, Beer City USA and moved to Iowa to rock it out at Rock 108. Started my radio career in Grand Rapids and attended Eastern Michigan University for broadcasting, so I guess that worked out for me.
