Favorite bands on Rock 108: I'm the idiot with a Motley Crue tattoo. And to answer your question: No, I was not drunk when I got it, and no, I do not regret it, or ever will. My brother had a lot of influence on me as a kid, as evident in the Tatum family video of myself lip-synching every word to "Girls, Girls, Girls" when I was three years old...That all took place before stuff like that became known as "child abuse."
I'm old school, but I dig on newer bands like Buckcherry and Shinedown, and heavier stuff from Slipknot, Zombie and Mudvayne.
First record you owned: My brother always used to give me cassette singles from 80s thrash metal bands. But I guess the first CD I ever bought on my own was Motley Crue's 1994 self-titled album, the one with John Corabi on lead vocals. I ordered it through BMG's "12 CDs for a cent" promotion. I don't think I ever paid the bastards their penny. I was 10 years old.
Foods you crave: I'll eat anything. (That's an innuendo, ladies!)
Moment you knew you wanted to be in radio: When I tried to start a band with my friend back home and realized I had no talent, so I decided to play other people's music instead.
Favorite TV shows: Family Guy, Metalocalypse, Robot Chicken...Pretty much anything on Adult Swim. SouthPark destroys, as well.
Favorite guilty pleasure artist/band: I have quite a few, actually. My taste in music may surprise you. I wouldn't call it a guilty pleasure, but I really dig Jimi Hendrix. If I had to name one band that would incite riotous laughter, it would be Blondie.
Favorite Sport: OAKLAND RAIDERS FOOTBALL
Best concert: It's a tie between Motley Crue in Kansas City in 2005 or Crue-Fest in St. Louis in 2008. I'm pretty sure my brother and I still have warrants out for our arrest in St. Louis. Alcohol may have been a factor...And warlocks.
Jobs before radio: I used to work with my dad and brother hauling milk when I was younger. I also used to pump gas at a full-service station in high school, which fueled (no pun intended) illegal extra-curricular activities back home.
Biggest pet peeve: People who speak text message abbreviations during verbal conversations.
Three artists that are currently rockin' your CD/mp3 player: I don't even own an MP3 player. I'd much rather buy the CD than download anything for free. Motley Crue is always a given. Sevendust is also usually close by, as well as Slayer, Pantera or Megadeth.
Favorite guy movie: Anything with blood and gore...and boobs. I'm not picky when I have those three in a movie.
Song or album that changed your life: Sevendust's Seasons. I wish I could elaborate on why, but I just remember listening to that CD over and over again when it came out. Motley Crue will always be my favorite band, but Sevendust were the first band that I felt were "mine."
Favorite rock hottie: She doesn't sing rock and roll, but Taylor Swift is just stupid, crazy hot.
If you were in a rock band you would be the: Groupie Scout/Cocaine Peddler
Final words of wisdom/advice: Is this where I quote a lyric from one of my favorite songs? I got nothin'..."Wisdom" and "Advice" were never really in the Tatum gene pool, which probably explains how I got to where I am today. |
