Quarantined At Home? Watch These Movies

You’ve watch all the TV shows you can stand, your fingers are tired from playing too many video games, time to catch up on some movies!

There are billions of movies out there and everyone has favorites, so I’m gonna try to my best to suggest a few different movies that you may have seen or it’s time to try something new! I know…you love what you know….but this is the perfect time to find a new favorite!

Dredd (2012)

Easily one of the best action movies out there from the 2010’s. It’s brutal, bloody, and a beautiful movie to watch…nothing can stop Judge Dredd. The character is already pretty awesome, and if you ever saw the hokey Sylvester Stallone movie…this is a VAST improvement over that one. It tanked in the box office sadly, but should be appreciated.

The Station Agent (2003)

Ever watch Game of Thrones and love actor Peter Dinklage? Welcome to one of his early leading roles in a film. I saw this movie for the first time in a Film Analysis class and have loved it ever since. It’s one of those movies that evoke thinking and compassion. 3 people who are working to get their lives back on track and realizing they need each other more than they realize.

Rise, Dawn, and War for the Planet of the Apes (Current versions)

While the classics are classic, and that….Mark Wahlburg one….the most recent Planet of the Apes films are amazing. It took me awhile to finally find some time to watch them and truthfully I only just finished Dawn…but damn they are fantastic. Andy Serkis as Ceaser? Good lord man…that dudes got some acting chops. Just a wonderfully engaging story line where you are cheering for both sides, but torn on which one you want to side with.

Alita: Battle Angel (2019)

Talk about a movie I didn’t expect to like…and it’s very rare for me to buy a Blu-Ray on Day 1…but with Alita? I sure did. It’s a movie based on the manga ‘Gunnm: Battle Angel Alita’ which I have never read. It’s action packed and a faithful realistic recreation of how anime/manga should be on big screen. They’ve tried with Dragonball: Evolution (Oy….), but with Alita? They seem to have got it right, BIG EYES and all. No one expected this to work…but here we are!

Ready Player One (2017)

A true love letter to gaming, comics, movies, music, nerdy stuff from the 80’s and early 90’s. If you want to just smile and have a good time watching a movie? Ready Player One is there for you and all it’s nostalgic glory. Based on the popular book of the same name (Yessssss the book is better)…it’s just a good time. If you’re a nerdy dude like me that remembers their pop culture filled childhood from the late 80’s early 90’s? This movie has it for you.

Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

Ok I wasn’t going to include this originally until I was scrolling through YouTube, saw the trailer and said….’HOLY CRAP I HAVE TO INCLUDE THIS!’ Forget pretty much anything you know about The Road Warrior or any of those and start here….this movie is FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC and was a return to form for practical effects. Tom Hardy as Max worked incredibly well, Charlize Theron was great….this is just a ROLLER COASTER of a movie. If I were you and had surround sound, crank this sucker up and be surrounded by this wonderfully crafted film.

There is a GALAXY of movies to watch, while I understand you love what you know….try something new…you might be surprised.
