Resident Evil 3 Remake is a Damn Good Time, But Not Perfect

By Tim Martin Apr 6, 2020 | 1:05 PM

This past weekend, I was able to spend a good amount of time playing through the Resident Evil 3 Remake.

The remake was released this past week, and is something I have been looking forward to ever since they remade the second one! Mind you, the RE 2 Remake is bloody fantastic….puzzles, constant anxiety of Mr. X following you around with those haunting footsteps, you name it…it’s a fantastic remake! So how does 3 hold up to that?

JUST AS GOOD, but a little more linear, predictable, action oriented, and less puzzles.

This isn’t necessarily a horrible thing, and I have played only a couple hours of the game. Plus there have been plenty of moments where I want to just up and quit, but I want to know what happens next! Specially the Gamma Hunters in the Sewers…sons a bitches kept gobbling me up left and right! That being said, it’s a different experience overall…it’s very much a sequel in that regard…it just…isn’t the other one. That though may be the fact that it doesn’t have that NEW feel to it! RE2 was wonderfully awesome and fresh, and RE3…is just the next one.

All that aside…I like the way it controls, it’s still a tense ride, and you never know when Nemesis is going to show up. When he does pop up, that dude is a threat like no other….however, maybe it’s just me, but doesn’t he seem easily escapable? Like, I just started to run in the other direction and boom….the encounter was over.

I know it sounds like I am crapping all over this game, but in reality, I’m having a lot of fun with it! I enjoy a linear experience, I prefer to watch the story than be given 800000 other things to do in an open world! RE3 does exactly what it was supposed to be in the first place, a sequel, and it does a fine job of that.
