I took this photo of my “little” brother, Lance grilling steaks last year at my parents’ house in Nebraska. At the time, I was still living up in Seattle, and went home for a visit. I remember telling my mom that the main thing I wanted to do while visiting was BBQ a steak with potatoes and corn!!
I think those were ribeyes, which are my favorite. (I don’t like a lot of fat.) The corn was from the previous year’s harvest that had been frozen in baggies. We also had twice baked potatoes! My favorite Midwest meal!! I totally dig that we love our steak and potatoes here! Living in Seattle for 16 years, I never felt like I fit in because of my Midwest food tastes. Casseroles are also my favorite!! I’d get made fun of sometimes when I brought up my love of casseroles in Seattle. Also, I love that when I say “supper” here in Iowa, I don’t get made fun of! How do you like your steak cooked? I like mine medium.
