Spaceballs, High Anxiety, History of the World Part 1…so many great movies.
The mastermind behind all these classic movies? Mel Brooks, and he is 94 years old!
As I was growing up, Mel Brooks’ insane humor was such an influence on the humor I have today. I grew up on TV shows like Seinfeld, Frasier, Cheers, The Simpsons, etc. Round that out with movies like History of the World Part 1, Spaceballs, High Anxiety, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and even some of his not so classic films like Life Stinks…I love them all.
Still my favorite to watch is either History of the World Pt. 1, High Anxiety, or Young Frankenstein.
Of course, there are some that you watch today and yea…it can kinda get uncomfortable with the language and the subject manner. Blazing Saddles is especially one of those films that there is no way you could make today. However films like Spaceballs, To Be or Not To Be, and The Producers are still great and fun films. Oh…and how could I forget Young Frankenstein???
Many great films that’s subject matter didn’t age entirely well, but an interesting look into the humor of decades, and it’s amazing he’s made it 94 years!
