Des Moines Venue 'Vaudeville Mews' Closes Its Doors Forever

Damn.

The Mews has been closed down…forever, the popular music venue in Des Moines stated on their Facebook page a couple of days ago….and why do you ask? The pandemic of course.

Smaller venues like Spicoli’s, Wooly’s, Wildwood, have all taken a MASSIVE hit due to the COVID-19 pandemic in ways you can’t possibly imagine. They just can’t operate…and you may wonder why they couldn’t just open up at 1/2 capacity right? Well, listen to the report below.

I never did get to make it to the Mews, but I would always look at their website and see the awesome acts that they would bring to Iowa.

It may not seem like it to general public, but these smaller venues are so…damn important to the music you listen to today. EVERY band you have ever seen live? Started at a place like this…and thanks to the pandemic? Many of them are going the way of the Dodo.

There is a movement that is working had to Save the Stages, as venues were the first to close and likely the last to open their doors and sadly some may never have their doors open. If you are passionate about live music as much as I am, CLICK HERE to read what it’s all about.
