Even after a month, us folks in Cedar Rapids are still dealing with derecho damage.

With massive damage city wide, the derecho is still wreaking havoc in ways that sadly are unable to be repaired.

St. Luke’s Hospital has announced place to tear down a portion of a building on it’s campus due to sustained damage from the August 10th derecho that swept through the city. The damage cause significant structural damage to the Resource Center on the campus, and estimated repair for the building was in the $400,000 range.

To give you a little history, the original wing of the building dates back all the way to 1917, and was renamed the ‘Resource Center’ in 1986.

Storms blow though regardless of history, it’s too bad this building is taking the fall from it.
