Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart announced on Saturday (6/6) via a Facebook video (below) that the city will be lighting-up the sky next month to celebrate America’s 244th birthday. The 4th annual Mayor’s Independence Day Extravaganza presented by Main Street Waterloo will be held July 4 at 10 PM in the area of the Lost Island Water Park/San Marnan, HOWEVER, Hart said musical entertainment WILL NOT be part of this year’s event due to social distancing restrictions.
The reason for the change of venue from previous years is because there will be plenty of parking at Crossroads and Hawkeye Community College for the thousands that come out for the celebration every year.
